Teen Mardi Gras

Celebrate Mardi Gras by playing games and winning prizes, making crafts, and having Mardi Gras snacks. All 6th-12th graders are welcome to attend this FREE program. All supplies provided by the Poway Friends of the Library.

Teen Candy and Dessert Making

Tuesday, February 14th at 4:00

Celebrate valentines day by making chocolate candies or other desserts to eat yourself or give as a gift. All supplies provided.

Teen Board Game Day

Play games like Apples to Apples or Clue and have snacks.  We will meet in the Meeting room.

Author Festival at the Poway Library

The Poway Branch of San Diego County Library, 13137 Poway Rd, is hosting a discussion and book signing with six young adult fiction authors on Thursday, October 27 at 7 p.m. as part of the Diversity in Young Adult (DIYA) Literature tour. 

The six authors include: Cindy Pon, Greg Van Eekhout, Holly Black, Malinda Lo, Cinda Williams Chima , and Karen Healey. 
Starting October 1, 2011 members of the Poway Library Teen Book Club will receive a free book by one of the authors that they can keep and get signed by the author. Sign up for the book club today by going to the Poway reference desk. While supplies last.

Summer Reading Club

The Teen Summer Reading Club has arrived!

Read or listen to books, magazines, newspapers, graphic novels or audiobooks to participate in the Summer Reading Club. Keep track of the number of minutes spent reading or listening during the summer and earn prizes. You can read anything you choose! And don’t forget to add reviews of your favorite (or not so favorite) books!

February 1st 4:00 Teen Advisory Council (TAC): Help plan teen programs to earn community service. Snacks will be served.

February 8th 4:00 Valentine Craft:Make a Valentine’s Day craft for yourself or your sweetie. All supplies provided and snacks served.

February 15th 4:00 Teen Pizza and Movie Night: Excited about the Super Bowl? Celebrate the sport with an uplifting movie about football. Watch the true story about the struggles of the Titans high school football team and have pizza; rated PG. We will meet in the meeting room.

* Thursday February 18th 4:00 Book Club: Discuss our book of the month. Pick up book at reference desk. 6th-12th graders.

February 22nd 4:00 Knitting Club: All skill levels and ages welcome. Bring your needles and yarn. Under 11 must be with an adult.

January 11th 4:00 Spa Day DIY:Make scented lotion, lip balm, and other relaxation essentials. We will meet in the meeting room. All supplies provided and snacks served.

*Thursday January 20th 4:00 Teen Book Club: Join us to discuss the book The Compound by S.A. Bodeen. After spending six years with his parents and his two sisters in an underground compound built by his father to protect them from a nuclear holocaust, Eli discovers that things are not as they seem. Pick up a copy of the book at the reference desk. We will meet in the fireplace room. Snacks will be served.

December 9^th 4:00 Teen Book Club:

Join us to discuss the book Leviathan by Scott Westerfeld. In an alternate 1914 Europe, fifteen-year-old Austrian Prince Alek, on the run from the Clanker Powers who are attempting to take over the globe using mechanical machinery, forms an uneasy alliance with Deryn who, disguised as a boy to join the British Air Service, is learning to fly genetically-engineered beasts. Pick  up a copy of the book at the reference desk. We will meet in the meeting room. Snacks will be served.

December 9^th 6-7 p.m. Jazz Concert: Twin Peaks Middle School Jazz Band:

Hear the Twin Peaks Jazz Band play great jazz standards and new music. The concert takes place in the Children’s Room. All ages are welcome.

December 14^th 4:00 Teen Candy Making:

Learn to make chocolate candies filled with different flavors. Each participant will take home ¼-½ lb of filled chocolates. We will meet in the meeting room. All supplies provided.

Friday December 17^th 6:30-10:00 p.m. After-Hours Winter Break Kick-off Party:

That’s right; this party takes place after the library closes! We will have the run of the entire branch. Come play Rock Band and Wii games, get henna tattoos, and play hide and seek! To top it all off, we will dish out pizza, soda, and hot chocolate for all participants. Parental permission required. Sign up at the reference desk.
