TEEN MOVIE AND PIZZA NIGHT (6-12 GRADE)

Watch the animated movie based on the book we are reading for the May book club. Sophie is cursed by the Witch of the Waste and is turned into an old woman. She goes to the ambulatory castle of the notorious wizard Howl and insinuates herself into his household. We will have pizza provided by the Friends of the Poway Library. All 6th-12th graders are welcome to attend this FREE event.

TEEN SERVICE LEARNER ORIENTATION (FOR TEENS AGED 12-17 )

Want to volunteer at the library over the summer? Sign up for one of our orientations starting May 1, 2012. Volunteers must commit to at least 20 hours of volunteer work over the summer, and must be between 12 and 17 years old. Volunteer time can be used as community service credit for school. KNITTING CLUB
Every Saturday 10:00 AM
Join a community of knitters to learn new skills and socialize while you work on your next project. Everyone is welcome, from newbies to masters. Bring needles and yarn.

CHESS CLUB
The first and third Sundays of the month    1:00 PM
Chess enthusiasts – all levels: join us to learn new moves and test your skills against other players. Please bring a chess game board and pieces to play with.The first and third Sundays of the month
from 1-3 pm in the Community Room.

All 6th-12th graders are welcome to attend these free programs!

-Teen Game Day Tuesday, April 3, 4-5:30 PM Play a variety of board games at the Library.

Teen Glass Etching Tuesday, April 10, 4-5:30 PM. Decorate a glass jar to use a candle holder, vase, or pencil holder.
-Teen Books and Brownies Tuesday, April 17, 4-5 PM. Discuss I am Number Four and eat brownies. Pick up book at reference desk.
-Teen Movie and Pizza Night Tuesday, April 24, 4-6 PM. Watch the new release based on the book club book for April and have pizza provided by the Friends of the Poway Library.

-Chess Club The first and third Sundays of the month 1-3 PM. Chess enthusiasts – all levels: join us to learn new moves and test your skills against other players.

-Knitting Club Saturdays 10-11 AM. Everyone is welcome, from newbies to masters. Bring needles and yarn.

 

Teen Mardi Gras

Celebrate Mardi Gras by playing games and winning prizes, making crafts, and having Mardi Gras snacks. All 6th-12th graders are welcome to attend this FREE program. All supplies provided by the Poway Friends of the Library.

Celebrate valentines day by making chocolate candies or other desserts to eat yourself or give as a gift. All supplies provided.

Play games like Apples to Apples or Clue and have snacks.  We will meet in the Meeting room.

The Poway Branch of San Diego County Library, 13137 Poway Rd, is hosting a discussion and book signing with six young adult fiction authors on Thursday, October 27 at 7 p.m. as part of the Diversity in Young Adult (DIYA) Literature tour. 

The six authors include: Cindy Pon, Greg Van Eekhout, Holly Black, Malinda Lo, Cinda Williams Chima , and Karen Healey. 
Starting October 1, 2011 members of the Poway Library Teen Book Club will receive a free book by one of the authors that they can keep and get signed by the author. Sign up for the book club today by going to the Poway reference desk. While supplies last.

The Teen Summer Reading Club has arrived!

Read or listen to books, magazines, newspapers, graphic novels or audiobooks to participate in the Summer Reading Club. Keep track of the number of minutes spent reading or listening during the summer and earn prizes. You can read anything you choose! And don’t forget to add reviews of your favorite (or not so favorite) books!
